How reviews work
Right, wrong, and why some items make you type the answer.
Each review asks you for one piece of information about a kanji, radical, vocabulary, or sense card. Meaning prompts and reading prompts are tracked separately.
A correct answer moves the item up one SRS stage, so the next review is further out. An incorrect answer drops it back a stage, and the next review fires sooner.
If you miss the same prompt repeatedly, the app stops accepting multiple-choice taps and asks you to type the answer instead. The default threshold is 3 misses, configurable in Learning settings.

Why "Typo: undo" puts the card back instead of letting me retype
What the undo button does after a wrong answer, and when to use it.
If you mistype an answer you knew, tap Typo: undo on the wrong-answer screen. The card goes back into your current review queue, so it shows up again in this session as if you had not answered yet.
The button does not let you immediately retype the answer on the spot. That is deliberate. If you could just type it right after seeing the correct one, your memory would not be doing the work, and the review would no longer reflect what you actually know. Putting the card back in the queue gives you the same chance to answer again, just a few cards later, when you have to recall it on your own.
The honest rule of thumb: use undo when your fingers got it wrong but your head got it right. If you did not actually know the answer, let the wrong answer stand. Yomikamo will schedule the card to come back sooner so you get another chance soon.

Sync indicator
What the small dot in the header means and how to read your device status.
If you see a small dot in the header with the tooltip "Sync pending", it means the app saved one or more review answers locally because the server was unavailable. The app retries syncing automatically in the background.

Cross-device behavior
How progress syncs when you study on more than one device.
Progress normally syncs through the server. If you study while offline, syncing is delayed until your device reconnects. Avoid studying on multiple devices at the same time when one is offline, because answers may arrive out of order.

SRS stage timings
How long the wait is between reviews at each pottery stage.
After a correct answer, the item moves up one stage. The next review fires after this much time.
- Raw Clay 4 hours
- Shaped 8 hours
- Formed 1 day
- Bisque 2 days
- Glazed 1 week
- Fired 2 weeks
- Kintsugi 1 month
- Masterpiece 4 months
An incorrect answer drops you back. The next review fires sooner so you can recover.

Audio is not playing
A few quick things to check first.
- Check Audio settings: make sure audio is enabled.
- Some browsers block auto-play. Try tapping the audio button once, then reloading.
- On iOS, check the silent switch and volume.
-
Export my data
Download a CSV or Anki deck of everything you have studied.
You can export your complete study history anytime from Export under Data settings. Two formats are available:
- CSV: opens in any spreadsheet app.
- APKG: imports directly into Anki.
Your data is yours. Exports include all subjects, progress, and review history.

Stuck on the same item
What "settling" means and how to clear the backlog.
When you miss the same prompt many times in a row, the app marks the item as "settling" (a leech in SRS terms). The default threshold is 8 consecutive misses on the same prompt.
Settling items show a small bowl marker during reviews and a count on the dashboard. You can drill them in isolation using the Practice Leeches mode from the Extra Study button on the dashboard.
Adjust the threshold in Learning settings.
-
Vacation mode
Pause reviews when you are away without losing your schedule.
Turn on Vacation Mode under Learning settings when you need a break. Lessons and reviews are paused while it is on.
When you turn it off, every items next review time shifts forward by the duration you were away. You will not return to a pile of overdue reviews from days you were not studying.

Curriculum choice
Frequency, JLPT-style, or textbook-aligned (Genki, Minna no Nihongo).
Yomikamo offers several curriculum orderings:
- Frequency-based: common kanji appear sooner so reading gets easier earlier.
- JLPT-style bands: a Beginner-to-Advanced ramp organized into JLPT-style difficulty bands.
- Textbook-aligned: kanji follow the order introduced in Genki or Minna no Nihongo.
The full list with details lives in Curriculums settings. Switching mid-progress is supported, but your displayed level may recalculate and the next few sessions will look different as the lesson queue reorders.

Report a bug or contact us
Use the feedback button on any page, or the contact form.
The fastest way to report a bug is the floating feedback button at the bottom-right of every page. Type what happened, optionally include a screenshot of the current screen, and send. Email addresses, tokens, and other sensitive values are redacted automatically before the report leaves your device.
For anything else, the Contact page is the canonical way to reach us.

Delete my account
How deletion works and what the grace period is.
You can request account deletion from the Account deletion page. We will email you a confirmation link.
After you confirm, deletion is scheduled with a 29-day grace period so an accidental click is recoverable. During those 29 days you can cancel the deletion from the same page. Once the grace period ends, your account and study data are removed. Some information may be retained as required by law, and backups may persist for a limited time. See the Privacy Policy for details.
